Snowycreek's Music In Motion, ovc h/e
The Black color is a recessive gene. Both parents must carry the "Black Color" gene to produce a "Black", but they don't necessarily need to be black themselves. A black/tan can produce solid blacks as long as the mate carries the gene also. Reba is solid black so the only color gene she can offer is the recessive "Black" gene. If Reba is bred to any color other than solid black she will give us black puppies as long as the male also carries the Black recessive gene. She can also produce very dark Black/Tan colored pups. She could also produce dark Sables if she is bred to a Sable male. Reba is also a "long coat" which is the result of a recessive gene carried by both parents. Both parents can be normal coated as are hers, and carry the recessive gene. Long coats typically have great temperament, wonderful big bone, and are very majestic in appearance. If Reba is bred to a male that is not a long coat himself, she will produce normal coated pups unless the normal coated male carries the recessive gene for coats, then as a result a few pups in the litter will carry a long coat while others in the litter will not. Aren't genetics cool ! Reba's pedigree
