nikki-zoe.jpg (22144 bytes)Hi Maria,

How are you?  Just a quickie to let you know Nikki is doing just great.  We love having her around so much and she has been very very adaptable.  I will send the cutest picture I can find as soon as I can - and there are lots!  My favorite pictures are on the video I took of her playing with a flower  in Flora's garden for 15 minutes (the same one!). Her focus is amazing and she has great predator instinct as demonstrated by her stalking behaviors when we are playing ball games with her.  She does not display this instinct with other animals however.  She met my aunt's cat and was quite friendly and yesterday she met my friend's 7 week old cat - she was so gentle, licking and sniffing curiously. She also met a bunny that lived in the same house - she licked him and didn't even go crazy and try to chase him - just watched from a distance ears pricked.  Everyone wants to stop to pet her when we take her for a walk and say she is just gorgeous. She loves them too.  My favorite comment so far is "Look at this little cutie - and she's all ears!".  She has grown twice her size but still cannot catch up to her big erect ears (they shot up after a good night's sleep two days after we brought her home). She also got over her tummy upset just fine, loved the vet we took her to and is now being treated to half human food, half premium food. She loves carrots and pulls them up from Doug's Mum's garden!  Nikki definitely has her dominant side but we are showing her who is boss and putting her in her place when needs be (2 to 3 times a day for about 3 minutes each time!).  She also makes the funniest little noises that make her sound like a baby monkey!  But she hardly ever barks.   The rest of the time she is a SWEETHEART and oh my goodness does she ever walk well on her leash - she is practically heeling for the whole walk and can now walk for up to 45 minutes at a time!  She doesn't mind the rain and wind either which is good as we haven't exactly had great walking weather recently. She is learning to hang by herself for periods while we are in different rooms of the house after following us right under our feet and lying ON our feet every time we used to stand still.  She is also learning to sleep by herself on the floor of our bedroom and often doesn't need to get up at all in the night.  She even adapts to our schedule if we want to sleep in. Her toilet training is progressing and she will sit by the door now if she needs out.  She even has the decency to go right in the back corner of the yard!  She LOVES car rides - after that first hellish 15 minutes when we took her away from you when she was whining non-stop - finally we stopped the car and put her in the back seat where I sat with her and once she wandered round by herself and figured out the whole car thing she settled for most of the way. Her confidence has come leaps and bounds and she is looking healthier than ever.  She shook like a little mouse when we gave her her first bath but was so fluffy afterwards and content.  Thank you so much Maria - you really do produce great dogs and I can't wait to watch Nikki grow into the beautiful, gentle, talented dog I know she will become. We have puppy kindergarten starting Sept 27th - I'll let you know how it goes and will send those pictures soon...

Take care,
Sincere thanks,
Zoe and Doug (and Steve and Flora too - Nikki's grandma and grandpa)

Hi Maria;

Does Teaka ever bark? :o) She seems to have settled in well. In fact she follows Deb around like she was attached by string all seems to be going fine.

Hi Maria

Just a little note to keep you up to date with Lola's progress.  It has been a while since I spoke to you last and was wondering if you received the photos I sent to you (I hope you did).  Anyway, Lola has finished her first session of obedience and will start on the next level in September.  She is such an exceptional dog.  She is well behaved, has a wonderful temperament and has such a protective instinct already.   She can sit, stay for 5 min., down, heel, come, and she has stopped nipping for the most part.  We absolutely love her to pieces.  When we take her to the park with the kids, she watches them constantly and won't let them out of her sight (I love that!!).   People stop us and ask to look at her because she is so beautiful - Dave smiles like a proud father and tells them that she comes from an excellent breeder.  She has had her final vaccinations and is in perfect health, the vet told me to tell you that she is a beautiful dog with wonderful conformation and a kind, gentle eye.  We couldn't ask for a better dog - Thank-you.  Hope to hear from you soon.

Take care

Hello Maria;

Luna is about 14  weeks old, and I would like to tell you that she is doing absolutely great, in Winnipeg. What a great Father's Day gift for me. There is this great off leash park , a 6 minute drive from us, where Luna is the toast of the group of dogs there most of the time. She is so beautiful, so sociable, so easy to get along with and so cute, that the young and the old want to pat her, laugh with her attempt to run with the bigger dogs, and protect her when she gets knocked over in the races, and wrestling matches that go on.What a pleasure- beautiful, smart!! It has been about 7 or 8 years since we had our last dog in the house, which happened to be a 90 pound female Shepherd, my wife's favorite of all the dogs we have had in the last 37 years.

If my kids show me how to send a picture, I will get one to you. Luna is about 21 pounds today, and I think has doubled her size in the  6 weeks that she has been here.

What a pleasure!!

Phil of Winnipeg, MB, Canada

Maria,

I was going to send pictures of Seamus but after seeing Kitty, I realized that they are dead ringers and you just have to imagine 43 lbs and attitude and you've got him. Actually, I will try to get pix this week.

We went for his final vaccinations today. He is in great shape. He is growing up very quickly. We go out every morning for an hour between 6:00 and 7:00 and run and play ball at the nearby city golf course (I know the groundsman and he likes Seamus and Byron a lot). At lunch we do "school," on leash at the park down the street. We know how to heel, and sit and down and "here" and the more formal "come." We know that we should sit when meeting new people and offer to shake hands. In the evening we try to get out for a swim or at least another long walk and our favorite game of "find" when the ball disappears in the long grass. He is a very good tracker.

So that's the latest. Will be in touch with pictures soon. Could we come and visit in August?

yeah I do agree...not pretty, looks like road kill
(Her head is on the lower right side with her belly up)

Got my computer back but it still has issues, but I managed to get a couple of photos off to you. It is dang hot out. You know, I have had alot of dogs over the years but I must say that Amber and Diva are pretty extraordinary. The pic of Amber upside down is her way of enjoying her day at the lake. She jumped right into the water as soon as we arrived. Looks like road kill!
Yes I will stack her for you.......

Hi,

Nykea was great last night. She slept in her crate just like everyone else. I didn't feed her when I got home last night as it was pretty late. I know that sometimes when dogs are stressed they won't eat and  she had a very big day yesterday. She ate all her breakfast this morning. I'm sure she is going to be just fine. It was great to meet you and your daughter. Thank you for all the time you spent with me yesterday.

pp-e-nykea_face_22mths.jpg (20115 bytes) Hi Maria;

Just a quick note to let you know that Nykea and I got home safely. She was really good at the cargo waiting for me. The guys there said that she didn't make a peep for the 2 hours she had to wait. So far my husband and daughter really like her. I think she will be a nice fit in our home. I will email you to let you know how she is progressing in her training.

Thanks again for all your help today.

shy'loh.jpg (12904 bytes)Hi Maria;

Just a note to let you know that shy'loh (Boobear) is doing well. He is now in his third night of puppy class and doing very good. He gets a bit excited but that is ok. He now knows sit down stayfor4min. Give me five and heal on leash very nicely. He is a very smart little boy and makes me laugh every day with his antics. He sits on a table while out on the deck to watch mum inside. He gets out every day and is with people and other dogs but is still very attached to mum and does not like to be outside alone. I d leave him but it is hard because he looks so forlorn haha. I had a Great Dane breeder friend here for a visit to see me and she says I should show him because he is very forward and likes to show off. Also she thinks he is a very good looking dog but we already knew that. If you have any ideas where to begin with this please let me know. I will be sending you some pic soon to show you how big he is getting. When he walks he sounds like a little pony .I love to watch him run to fetch a toy and then trot back with it. Hope all is well with you. Did a man from here get in touch with you. He wanted your phone number. He said he thought boobear was a wonderful looking little boy and liked his markings.

Talk to you soon
Pattie in Calgary, AB

Hello Maria,

  WOW, I am so excited about the chance to take my gal into the show ring. I have joined the GSD Club of WA state and they are all very excited for us. They are more than happy to show me the ropes and have me tag along to see how it all works.

  JaKai has brought so much into my life I cannot explain it, but I am sure you know what it is like. Class is going great and JaKai enjoys learning new commands. I didn't understand how that could be but you can really see when she enjoys something. She has an incredible ball drive, intense but not obsessed. No barking for the ball just some cute footwork that I call the "happy dance". I have said it so much that now when I say it she does it!

  Thank you again for such a wonderful gal. I will keep you posted.

KolbyPicture15.jpg (47874 bytes)

Hi Maria;

Our high speed is up & running today anyway!
Kenton said it's been awhile since I've sent you some pictures.  Kolby is doing great!
He had his second visit to the vet on July 4th. He's 34.8 lbs. The vet said he's a lean young teenager!  Overall he's pretty laid back! Check him out eating! no food aggression there. Bandit our cat actually bit Kolby's ear when he tried to stick his nose into his treat! Bandit (our cat) wasn't going to let Kolby have any of his treat! But Bandit is allowed to steal Kolby's food anytime he likes, too funny!!
He's finding it hard to adjust to having the kids home with him all the time. He's not getting his beauty sleep! by bed time he's asking to go to bed! Very happy with his temperament and his coloring is turning out quite nice as well!
Many people are asking us where we got him and we are telling everyone about you so maybe there might be more of your puppies up here some day! I've also been asked if we have to get him fixed. Can we get a breeding agreement, but I don't really think we're interested in that stuff.

Thanks again!

Hello Maria,

Hi, just thought I would drop you a line and let you know that things are going well in Nipawin.  Kayna is coming along fine, she is getting to be a big suck with me and doesn't like it when I leave her for more
than.......... hum, that long!  She is still extreme puppy, energy to no end.   You were so correct when you said she was HI DRIVE!!!   Our oldest boy(2 1/2) and her play well together, once Jeremy quits getting mad at her for getting in his face, things are good.  She is such a pretty girl, and we are sure enjoying her.   I sent along a picture of her on her 1st Birthday.

Hope you have a good summer.

Well Maria!  Our baby Willow made a spectacular arrival.  The 'lady' waiting for a dog was paged at the airport and when I responded they told me there was a problem and they couldn't bring her into the airport.  After a brief discussion I find that 'the accident' was a dirty kennel.  Well, to the surprise and amazement of the cargo staff I said "Good".  What's good?  The  way I saw it was after all she had been through that day and the mess she was in I could now 'saver her'. They arranged to meet me behind the building, load her crate in the car and away we went.  When I got home Phil wrapped her in an old towel while I filled the tub and while I bathed her he cleaned the crate.  Well!  I have been her new mommy ever since.  She is eating well, sleeping right through the night, in her crate beside our bed and has happily met with some of the grandchildren, had some light exercise everyday (as in walking up and down the block several times a day on lead).  She obviously is used to grass and has scaled a small gate 20" high to get onto our back grass and refuses to relieve herself anywhere else until she is desperate.  We think she has settled in nicely however our life has been a little hectic (in order to keep hers fairly quiet) with the long weekend and the change in our daily routine to accommodate her.  She is much prettier in person than even in her pictures, curious, responsive, greets people effusively and has quite a happy disposition.  Phil looked like a guy greeting his new born first baby when he was taking her out of her crate all full of poop.  It was obviously love at first sight.

On a new note I want to say how sorry I am that this note did not get out sooner and I know you had a really busy day when you sent her out but everything worked as you said it would.  I noticed on the internet that you have more puppies and with the dogs you just picked up I would guess you know all about 'busy'.

Thank you so much for the work you did on our behalf and know that Baby (Willow) is in a good place.

Regards, Kitty

dakota.jpg (16204 bytes)Dakota is doing great!  She's a full time shift partner on night shifts now, however, she snores really loud and you can hear her over the dispatch radio.  Her protectiveness is starting to come out now more and more, the more time she spends working with me. . . she barks and is not afraid and won't back down.

Actually, I was going to write you because I had a wonderful experience with her today.   We were out for a walk and I saw a red car approach and stop near where we were.   The lady got out of her car and approached us . . . I don't know this lady.   Dakota was quiet but attentive and her ears were forward and  her body language was awesome.  The lady said that she just had to stop and see where this beautiful girl was from . . . yes she said girl, she recognized the sharp pointy nose . . . so I knew she knew her GSD's.  She said that this was one of the best looking GSD's that she had seen in a very long time and she had to find out where she came from.  I told her your name and the kennel and to check out the website.  Told her of the great experience I had with you and she sounded like she was interested.

Dakota has her moments when she gets into mischief but I am so proud of her right now.   We are walking off leash in quiet places with minimum distraction now.  In the city, she walks on leash and she is a pleasure to walk.  She sits, downs, stays (sit for 5 minutes, down stays for up to 10 minutes and I can move about as long as I stay in eye shot), comes, and learning to jump on command.  Also, we are starting to play searching games to get her used to using that brilliant nose, so her favorite toys and cookies are stashed away and she does a pretty good job of finding these things, although we've only been working at it for about two weeks now.

She's almost 45 lbs, not very tall - still below the knee, but her paws are large and she still has alot of growing to do.

She doesn't mind the  lights or sirens . . . the first time I had to use the lights, she stood on the seat and was wondering what was going on, and I left the sirens turned to manual and I got out of my police vehicle and she stepped on the sirens, I nearly jumped out of my skin.  She just stood there!!

This week, I exposed her to the sound of guns . . . it will take a little bit but she'll get it okay.  She's good with our Taser gun, the one that shoots electricity and that one makes an awesome snappy noise.

I'll hopefully have more photos coming shortly . . . we are moving at the end of the month here to the house in Black Lake.  The email will stay the same so I'll be able to keep in touch.

Take care,

luna-dad.jpg (11465 bytes)Luna is home!

Well, she made it in safely, I picked her up from the airport, she sat in my lap all the way home, and she spent the evening playing in the house and yard. She was smart enough that she didn't fall in the pond, and seems to have generally had an excellent time. Chasing the bugs, and the leaves, and trying to eat mom's peonies when they whapped her in the head as she walked past them. At first she wouldn't drink any water beyond a quick lap at the bowl, but then after a while, she ate, and followed that up by walking through the dish of water, only then did she polish off her bowl of water. I am sure she will have my dad hopping all night to take her out when she whines.

Dad is thrilled and said he is happy to have a good reason to go for walks again, and get moving. I suggested he take her to the big off-leash park, so she can play and run safely.
She has Nutmeg's old plush squeaky toys, which she likes very much, and a new collar, and a nice plushy dog bed (she seems to prefer sleeping in the cat's bed, but then again, it is more her size (for now anyway, I am sure she will grow out of it by tomorrow). She likes her Innova puppy food, and loves people!

Mom and I went for a walk with her, and Monty, the massive Golden Retriever down the block, took a real shine to her. She didn't even notice him when he was sniffing at her (and he is a monster too!)

She seems like a real people puppy, she is inquisitive, not shy at all, and seems like she will be fabulous (although she already is) Mom thinks she is lovely, as we all do.

Hi Maria :

Pauline & Mark from Calgary sorry we haven't talked sooner but life sometimes gets very crazy. First off something I'm sure you already know, You breed the most incredible dogs in the world. Zena is the : most amazing dog i have ever seen, she is so smart sometimes it is maddening(L>O>L). She now weights in at 53lbs. of solid muscle so the vet says. She is one of if not the most petite Shepherd I have ever seen also one of the prettiest. Don't get me wrong she is one hundred percent Large Heart. The new thing is learning the difference between what is play and what is protection. She is never sure when some people get to close to Pauline & I mostly Pauline. But she is learning as always very quickly so no problem. Everyone who meets her intently falls for her, the two biggest threats are from her vet & her groomer who have both said one day  I won't get her back( not much chance).

She is still a little nervous when we leave her alone but in the last little while she is learning we always come home so it to is getting better(my fault for spoiling her). She is the best behaved dog every time we take her anywhere and she is welcomed everywhere we go which is why she is not alone very often. There is no way I can tell You how much Zena means to me she loves and puts up with every  mood we have whether up or down with the same  zest . She could not possibly be replaced. I love watching the learning process in her, sometimes she will sit and watch me do something and I'm sure if she had thumbs she could reverse the process (scary).

Well not much more to say other than once again THANK YOU and keep on winning. ZENA is great.

Thanks
Pauline&Mark

kolby-fishing.jpg (9424 bytes)Good Morning!

Sorry it's taken me so long to keep in touch. Our high speed is down so I'm sending this our form work!

 I apologize for taking so long getting the puppy crate back to you.  We actually used it when we got home at night in the kids room so that he could sleep in there with them the one we bought is way to big to haul in & out of their room.   He also didn't like to go in it at night because he was all by himself and all he did was cry.  So now we have him either sleeping in our room blocked off beside the bed or in the exercise pen in the kids room.

 We did initially have the exercise pen connected to the wire crate so that he would have extra room during the day when we're at work but that didn't work out very well. When Grandpa went to go let him outside at lunch time he wasn't in the area, the exercise pen had come off the crate. So I thought that I didn't connect it very good and that I'd do it better the next time.  The next time Grandpa went by everything was connected but again he wasn't in the penned area he was "King of the house".  Fortunately he didn't destroy anything and his accidents were on the hardwood flooring so it was easy to clean up.  Kenton figure's he climbed out, he said that he knew he'd climb out he saw him climb over something earlier. Anyway now he's stuck in the crate with a walk & potty break in the middle of the day. He's doing well. He's sitting, shaking a paw and comes when called pretty good most times.

 With our high speed down it is extremely painful to send pictures, but I did manage to send this one I thought you might like. It's a picture of Kolby and Dad fishing off the dock in our back yard.

 Everyone who's seen him is very impressed with his calm demeanor.  He's been meeting lots of people and other dogs!

They also comment on how big his feet are!  There might be a few people calling or checking out your website for puppies.  One gentleman stopped me while I was walking him and he asked all about him how old he was where I got him etc. He used to show shepherds and currently has a mix that they rescued and might want to get one again.   He asked me to bring Kolby by so he can see him again once he fills out!

Thanks again! Have a Great Day!

Hello again Maria,

I just wanted to let you know that JaKai has successfully rang the bell to go potty outside for 10 days in a row with no accidents! She is very smart and her concentration level is intense. When I use the "look at me" or "wait" command she stairs right through me like she is mesmerized. She is going to be great in obedience. Thank you for such a wonderful pup.

tp-seamus-and-mom.jpg (12866 bytes)Hi Maria,

Our first night went fine. I tethered Seamus to my bedside table on a folded quilt. He woke me up by standing on his hind legs and whine into my face...at 1:00am, 3:45 and 5:55. He was very good, we made it outside all 3 times. He is very very smart. If you sold stereo systems I'd buy one from you, because he seems already "programmed." He is so little but so brave. He tries everything I ask him too. We are both tired today so he is napping again and I'm about to. He is eating very well, and has already figured out that if he's hungry and goes and sits in his kennel food will appear. I'm not ready to shut the door on it just yet but maybe we'll try that tomorrow. I took him to a nearby golf course for a walk with Byron and he tried very hard to keep up, then sat and waved his tiny paws in the air so he got carried (again!). Megan came and puppy sat this afternoon while I went for groceries. It is very hard to leave him even for a little while. When I'm working in the kitchen or sitting at the computer he curls up with his head on my foot. I can see my name being struck off invitation lists all over the city - but I'd rather be home with my boys!

Anyway, thank you again for this small bundle of extraordinary bliss. I have never had a puppy so adorable and amazing at the same time. We will keep you posted!

Love,
Seamus, Deborah, & Byron.

Dear Mom;

Well, we made it home. They stopped 3 times so I could get a breath of air
and pee. I was very well behaved. I didn't drool or throw up. In fact, I
only muttered under my breath until they turned the opera off and put on
C&W. Now I've met my big brother Byron, and my distant cat-relative Merlin.
I've eaten a bowl of kibble and canned food and had a drink of water. I
didn't like the crate so I screamed bloody hell but nothing happened. Then
after about 3 minutes the nice lady came and let me out. Now she's drinking
tea and I'm lying at her feet like a perfect German Shepherd.

I miss you lots and will be sure to visit. I'll dictate more after a night
in this place.

Love and Licks,
Seamus

Hi Maria,

Well our "little lady" is finally home.  We cannot believe how perfect she actually is.  She hardly made a sound all the way home from the airport, and when we arrived at home I took her out of her kennel and she immediately smothered me with kisses. We let Mr. Patch (cat) introduce himself and surprisingly he hasn't even hissed or put up a fuss (YET), he just keeps his distance, and Lola isn't even bothered by him.  After the introductions we took Lola out in the yard and she loved it.  Of course, she did cry a little bit, but I think the kids kept her mind off of things.  She follows us everywhere, especially Hunter when they are playing outside.  We went to my parents' for supper and took Lola with us of course, and she seems to be very comfortable with us so far.  It is just as though it was meant to be.  I have already taken lots of pictures, and will definately send some to you.  We cannot even begin to express how truly happy we are to have her as a part of our family, and we can't even thank you enough for making our family complete.  She is such a beautiful, well tempered dog right now and we are looking so forward to watching her grow.  Thank - you so much Maria from the bottom of our hearts........you breed absolutely beautiful dogs.  You are by definition a true BREEDER.

If we have any questions or concerns we will definately call, and if Lola is ever on your mind, please do not hesitate to phone or e-mail us.

Take care and talk to you soon......

Good morning Maria,

JaKai is doing great. She is such an outgoing gal. Everyone who meets her is delighted with her easy going attitude. We went on our first road trip and I have enclosed pictures of her at Mt Saint Helen's in the snow and at Seaside Oregon. We are in puppy kindergarten and start Obedience with Darlene in June. She is a wonderful companion.

Thank you,

Hi Maria

 Well I took Cooper to Agility Classes last night and what a blast! What a great atmosphere and my head is so swelled!

 The women who run the club could not stop talking about him and one of the women told me at the end of the class that she was a confirmation judge and she had not seen anything in the ring lately as beautiful as him!  (What is a confirmation judge?)  They commented on his angle and slope and said they were happy to see a dog that had some hips. One of the instructors who has always had GS said she was stealing him and he was now her dog!

 On top of that, several people at the class came up and asked me where he came from.  One woman commented that she had been watching him and was impressed by his confidence as well as his looks!  She wanted the name of your Kennel.

 He was obviously distracted by all the dogs but when I called on him to focus on me - you should have seen him Maria - those eyes - I was sooo proud of him!

 He was very sociable as well which made me happy.  He did all this stuff and nothing to risky for his body as of course it is the first class and a beginner one at that.

 Wayne does not want him jumping high things but I don't think they really do anyway

 Anyway - This will help Cooper get ready for the dog show as he will be used to dogs all around and focusing more - so he will do well in the ring I hope. I am going to start working with him outside once the snow melts too and working on his stand - so he is ready to go.  I think I will take him to a professional groomer for the show as well - but will see.

Alex and Cooper
