At present, our main kennel building provides our dogs with 13 indoor (4 x 12) runs with one whelping room and an indoor puppy pen. We also have a separate yearling pen with its own building for our older pups but this arrangement will quickly not meet our needs anymore. We are planning a renovation of the main kennel building. It will provide 18 (4 x 12) covered outdoor runs with free access to (4 x 6) sleeping quarters which will also double as temporary indoor runs on cold winter days.

Construction of our new Whelping Facility has started April 2008 !

	The 14 ft x 20 ft room is fully enclosed, insulated, climate controlled, and easily kept clean. The kennel enclosure is 7 ft x 16 ft and divided into 4 separate runs. The enclosure has been built on 5/8" thick solid rubber mats on a concrete floor to provide comfort and easy cleanup.
	Each of the 4 runs is 4 ft x 7 ft with solid divider walls, lots of room and privacy for mom and her puppies. The runs are convertible through the stages of puppy development.  Starting off with a whelping box, then a puppy pen, then a 4 ft x 7 ft run.
	Whelping pens have a 4 ft x 4 ft plastic box lined with washable carpeting for puppy comfort.  The plastic box is easily cleaned and sterilized.  Keeping the puppies clean is critical for healthy development.  The ceiling has been wired to power suspended heat lamps above each whelping box, providing that extra warmth for newborn puppies.  Mom can leave the whelping box whenever she wants to take a break from her demanding children.  Once the pups have been weaned they are moved into a puppy pen.
	Puppy pens are 4 ft x 4 ft wire construction with a wire grate floor above removable trays.  The trays are easily cleaned without disturbing the puppies.  This style of puppy pen keeps them clean, healthy, and comfortable.  Once the pups get a little bigger the pen is removed and they are free to run around and play in the 4 ft x 7 ft run.
	Puppy runs are 4 ft x 7 ft enclosures providing plenty of room for pups to run and play.  The rubber mat flooring is easy to keep clean and sterilized.
	The most important factor in healthy puppy development is LOVE.
